We are part of the exclusive AWEBB Buying Group, which gives us access to hundreds of global brands, such as Schneider Electric, Hager, Aico and JCC Lighting, covering many sectors including manufacturing, industrial, commercial, and electrical contracting. We are motor control gear and industrial automation specialists (ABB, Finder and Weidmuller) as well as stocking quality brands for the electrical contractor, including MK, Envirovent, Hager, and Ansell Lighting. Dec 1987 - Worcester Electrical Distributors Ltd was formed by Bob Rushton and Neville Butler and commenced trading in February 1988.
Jun 1988 - Appointed as a main distributor for TELEMECANIQUE, now a brand of SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC.
Oct 1993 - Opening of our second branch in Brierley Hill.
Jul 1997 - Further expanded by forming a new division, Electrical Control Supplies, to service the central Birmingham area.
Aug 1998 - Company expanded again by opening a fourth branch in Hereford, to service major industrial users and other customers in the area.
Aug 2001 - Saw the move of the Head Office and Worcester branch to bigger unit, still on Blackpole East, enabling the company to grow further and expand the range of products available.
Jun 2002 - Became a member of AWEBB (Association of Wholesale Electrical Bulk Buyers Ltd), the second largest purchasing consortium in the UK, with over 200 branches in the UK and Ireland. Aug 2002 - Became an official ABB franchise holder, another of the world’s leading electrical manufacturers.
Nov 2002 - Became a WEIDMULLER distributor (KLIPPON) and have continued to grow their market penetration rapidly.
Nov 2007 - Opened our fifth branch in Quedgeley, Gloucester, further enhancing our SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC and WEIDMULLER (KLIPPON) coverage into the South West Midlands.
Feb 2008 - Company celebrated 20th anniversary.
Oct 2008 - Acquired two branches, in Abergavenny and Evesham, extending our coverage into the Cotswolds and South Wales.
Sep 2010 - Awarded AWEBB member of the year by manufacturers and suppliers to the group at the AGM at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh.
Feb 2013 - Company celebrates 25th anniversary.
Apr 2014 - First company 'super branch' opened with the merge of our Birmingham and Brierley Hill branch located on the Enterprise Trading Estate in Brierley Hill.
Jun 2014 - Worcester opens new, independent Trade Counter on Blackpole East Trading Estate, at the same address where it all began in 1988.
Mar 2016 - Company launched brand new website with eCommerce functionality featuring over 11000 products live and ready from stock.
Jun 2016 -Worcester Head Office moves to join the Trade Counter, back to where it all began.
Sept 2022 - Worcester Electrical Distributors acquired by RDCP Group www.rdcpgroup.com. New Managing Director Paul Clunn appointed.
Mar 2023 - WED post a record sales year.
Nov 2023 - WED wins its first EDA award for Digital accuracy.
Jan 2024 - New company website is launched, giving customers the ability to order online and access their account.
